Home / About Us

At the Hispanic Religious Partnership for Community Health, Inc., we are committed to working with individuals and families to help them reach their goals toward self-sufficiency. In times of crisis, we help bring relief by providing basic needs such as emergency food, utilities assistance, job placement, and vision assistance. In addition, HRPCH builds community partnerships so that individuals and families have access to and benefit from the kinds of programs and services that make a difference.

Our stated mission is: To make a difference by engaging in the lives of the disadvantaged, under served, and those requesting assistance to meet their basic needs.

In June of 1997, ten local churches in San Antonio, TX founded the Hispanic Religious Partnership for Community Health. The founding churches, located in some of San Antonio’s poorest communities, had witnessed first-hand, the despair that can come from poverty. Lacking the resources to be able to provide the much needed help on their own, they came together in a partnership to more adequately address the health and human services needs of the people in their communities.

Today, HRPCH operates, Alimentos – Food and Nourishment for Families, HELP, and Wellness programs in San Antonio. These three important programs served 19,569 unduplicated families and provided them with an impressive 43,350 services in 2008. Our organization is able to accomplish this very effectively and efficiently with only three full-time staff members and a corps of over 150 volunteers.

Individuals and families must have their basic needs satisfied before they can work towards setting and reaching long-term economic and educational goals. A hungry or homeless child will not be able to succeed in school, and a family without access to health care or who does not have an income due to unemployment is especially vulnerable. Now more than ever, families in crisis need a strong safety net. Individuals who have never before needed assistance are facing unemployment, hunger, and eviction.
